The Derry Author Fest
I was fortunate to be able to present at the Derry, New Hampshire Author Fest on April 18. This is an all-day affair where aspiring, new and intermediate authors can come for sessions on craft, marketing and the industry. Rebecca Rule, Yankee humorist, and Adi Rule, children's and YA author, gave the keynote address. I spoke on my own pathway to publication, including small traditional publishers and a large niche publisher. At left, the Rules and organizer Erin Robinson; at right, myself and Erin.
A fond farewell
to a Concord original
In November of 2025, I said goodbye to a dear friend, Paul E. Brogan of Concord, New Hampshire. Paul was a lot of things to a lot of people. He wrote several books, including the classic "The Concord Theatre," about movies in his hometown shown through the lens of a local theater. He was a tireless promoter of other authors, through his cable TV shows, Concord Area Chats, through the show he co-hosted with Margaret Evans Porter, "Turning Pages," and in the author forums he hosted with Margaret and Laura Knoy. I also got to know him through my book, "Growing Up in Concord, New Hampshire in the 50s and 60s," where he provided anecdotes, insights and suggestions on who else to interview. He was a gentle and generous man.

The Raymond Historical Society and Friends of the Dudley-Tucker Library kicked off their fall 2026 programming series with, well, me. We had it outside the Historical Society's classic train depot HQ, on a soft September evening. It was great to reconnect with old friends, so integral to my Raymond life over the past 40 years. I shared from the History Lovers book, and they invited me back to do War Monuments. I presented War Monuments in February. This one was recorded by Raymond Community Television. My last appearance on Paul and Margaret's cable show, "Turning Pages," was April 22, 2025, with Paul, Margaret, me and Amanda Grappone Osmer, author of "The Founding," a history of her family's roots in Italy and Concord. Amanda and I had a great time swapping "Old Concord" stories, she from family lore and hearsay, me from, well, living some of it. Turning Pages 4/22/25

We held our Launch Party for the History Lover's book Thursday, March 20, in Gibson's Bookstore, Concord, New Hampshire. A fitting place, as I have been going to that bookstore in one iteration or another since I was six years old. We had party hats, door prizes and a special time.

Center, here I am with my friend, author and TV producer, Margaret Evans Porter.

Paul Brogan and Alan Jesseman brought me a pie!

From left, discoursing on my subject and signing books. It never gets old.
